My mom makes blankets for my babies when they are born. I absolutely love the quilt she made for David. He sleeps with it in his crib. Not only does it have such a fun pattern, but everytime I look at it to enjoy it, I am reminded of my Mom and how much she does for me. I hope my kids feel all the love she has for them. I sure feel her love wrap around me! I LOVE YOU MOM.

Wood Cutting
Our family likes to cut wood. Our favorite is the spruce trees. They smell fantastic...just like Christmas, and it burns very nicely in our wood stove.(I love living in the mountains and having a fire to heat our home!) This was our first wood cutting outing this season. Last year we cut about 11 cords of wood. For those of you who know wood cutting you know that is A LOT! We sell some and the rest we use for burning and for a buffer against next year. We had such a good time cutting wood. Winslow enjoys his new chain saw. (I would make that owwowwoww man noise that Tim Allen always makes but I'm no good at it.) We spread out a blanket and played while Winslow cut wood. We even took our puppy Olivia. She did great. The kids had a great time looking thru the binoculars and taking little walks and eating snacks. It was a great Saturday together as a family.

Tonsils
Jacob got his tonsils out 2 and 1/2 weeks ago. Boy has it been exciting. I wasn't sure what possessed me to have Jacob undergo surgery just 2 weeks after my surgery, and having a brand new baby. Kind of crazy. Jacob did well considering. He had to take anti nausea medicine the first day because he couldn't keep anything down. Not good. But it did get better. There were a lot of sleepless nights feeding baby David, and then getting up later to give Jacob his pain meds. Of course they rarely timed their needs to coincide. Just a few days after Jacob's surgery we went to phoenix for a business mtg. (where by the way the AC was BROKEN...how do you people survive the heat!!!! i was melting!) The next day we drove to New Mexico to attend a funeral for Winslow's grandma. So we dragged an infant and a boy recovering from surgery all over. I am so grateful for all my friends who gave me tons of advice and help with tips to make it all easier. Jacob is doing much better now and likes his new "voice."

Starting at the Begining
So the anticipated day of the amnio had finally arrived. Winslow went to work for 2 hours before we set off for the hospital. My sister Emily took this picture. 7 weeks of Bedrest and lots of Tocolytic drugs. I don't look too bad. But my tummy sure felt stretched! So off to the hospital we went. I had been having contractions that day, but obviously this was nothing new...I didn't want to get my hopes up either...seeing as how they kept stopping my labor. So we did the amnio...not so bad...just don't look at the needle. And then they monitored the baby for an hour. They were also monitoring contractions during this time. They were strong and they were starting to hurt. Of course I was laying down so that made it hurt more. Pretty soon I decided to sit UP. I felt a lot better...and the contractions continued at about 2 minutes apart. We were lucky enough to be watching a very intense game of Soccer on ESPN. It was crazy... and I was glad to have something to distract myself with. Winslow headed to meet my sister Tami to pickup our crib she had brought up from Queen Creek. We had originally planned to pick it up from my brother's house in early May. But All the bed rest had squelched that plan. While he was gone the nurse came in. She had spoken to the doctor and they were going to give me an IV and terbutaline. Yeah...no thankyou. We had played this game last week. Now that we were almost 38 weeks along I was done with the drugs. I politely informed them I would do the IV but I was refusing the Terbutaline. They were a little shocked. "Are you sure you don't want to wait for the amnio results?" Yeah...I'm good. So they were going to monitor me and see if the fluids would stop the contractions. (NOT LIKELY). I asked the nurse what they would do with me if I wasn't a c-section delivery...her response was that they would have me walk the hospital so I could be in active labor. Yeah...I was so not going to take the drugs just because they could give them to me and wait for a scheduled time to do the c section. Winslow got lunch in the mean time. A little later he went to the Walmart next door to get a disposable camera. By this point we knew we would be having this baby now and we hadn't brought anything with us to the hospital. Remember home is an hour a way. The nurse came in again and I was dialated to a 4 and now considered in "active" labor. So she called the dr., Now that I was in active labor he didn't have to try to stop it anymore. Let's get this baby out. They called the surgical team. The nurse came back and said. We are going to do your surgery in 45 min. AHHH my husband is at Walmart. So they paged him. Obviously it is something they do often. He was getting his receipt when the page came over the intercom. He ran back to the hospital. While this was going on two other ladies decided their babies were ready to come, so my c-section was a little delayed while the dr. delivered their babies...that was okay because it gave us time to call home and let them know what was going on. I was anxious and excited to finally have our little guy here. David arrived at 6:30pm.
